Two meetings a month

The club meets twice a month (except December) on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday for two different formats

Club Nights   Focus Nights

Club Nights start early over coffee to give friends a chance to catch up. The evenings content is then quite varied but always interesting and enagaing.

We regularly have expert lecturers come and join us. Last year we had a professional film director, TV producer, sound engineer and creative writer, all of whom brought interesting insights and different perspectives. Take a look at our previous meetings to see the types of topics we cover.

After a break there is usually a practical team workshop, competition screenings or a review and discussion of recent entries / members films.

Focus Nights are dedicated to helping club members build their skils in a variety of, mostly technical, areas.

Both beginners and more advanced skills and topics are covered with the approach being to alternate between the more basic and the more advanced skills each month.

Many members find both levels useful since there's always something you can learn!

Check out our calender to see what's coming up.

4th Wed. except Nov. and Dec. - next Club Night

2nd Wed. except Nov. and Dec. - next focus night

Competitions

During the year, there are four competitions, all of which are judged by experienced independent judges who provide constructive and useful feedback to help members learn. Each competiion has a different pre-arranged theme. Teams or individuals may enter the competitions - check out some recent entries.

Screenings are held on the Club Night the entries are due. Results are then available on the next Club Night.

Video of The Year

At the end of each year members compete for a number of awards culminating in the Video of the Year. This is the Club's premiere short film event and is usually held on the last Friday in November at Film Australia.

You can see the results of VOTY 2012 here and also some of the entries, both winners and others, here.
